What Is a CBCT?
In this video, Vahid Bashi, DDS, explains why Cone Beam Computed Tomography is an essential tool for precise treatment planning.
Many people are curious about what a CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) machine is. Essentially, it functions similarly to an MRI but is specifically designed for dental use, providing detailed insights into the various anatomical structures within your mouth. It offers a three-dimensional image of your jawbone and the positioning of your teeth. This advanced imaging technology enables me to make informed decisions by showing the precise locations of different anatomical features, including areas of bone loss around the teeth or the impact of missing teeth on surrounding areas. Essentially, it delivers the clearest possible picture of what’s happening inside your mouth.
The CBCT machine is an invaluable tool that I use daily in my practice. The process of using it is straightforward: you simply stand still while a component of the machine rotates around your head. Within seconds, it supplies all the necessary information, making it an efficient and effective means of assessing dental health and planning treatments.
